Chelsea Restoration Corporation
Chelsea Restoration Corporation (CRC) is a community based non-profit agency that has been an integral part of the preservation and revitalization of Chelsea’s neighborhoods for almost 29 years. Since its incorporation by local residents on May 12, 1977, its mission has been to provide quality housing for the area’s low to moderate-income families.  Approximately 97% of these families are minorities with the greater number being Latino.

CRC is a community organization driven by the needs of its community.  CRC’s mission is carried out through relevant and quality services that are developed to address specific needs identified by the Board, staff, clients, and constituent advisory boards. A seven-member Board of Directors, which represents varied aspects of the community and the housing industry, leads CRC. In accordance with CRC’s by-laws, all are themselves Chelsea residents, and therefore have an invested interest in the programs implemented in their community.   The Board is primarily responsible for developing policy for the organization, hiring the Executive Director, evaluating programs, and assisting with fund-raising.

The board members and members of CRC staff combine to form a unique cross section to represent both the communities with whom we work as well as the housing industry in which we work.  The majority of Board and staff combined are homeowners in and around Chelsea.  Many reflect the background and experience of our city’s constituents.  Our board members reflect expertise in various housing specialties such as real estate and property management, extensive backgrounds with Community Development corporations, and tenant training, selection, and management.  They are authorities in federal and state housing regulations, construction and preventative maintenance, construction contracts, progress and requisitions, and finally banking and budget financial management. They are able to bring to CRC’s clients the utmost professional knowledge in housing topics, which would otherwise not be available without significant costs.  In other words, through our staff and Board at CRC we are able to bring to the community not only a representation of their languages, backgrounds, and cultures, but also experts who possess a vested interest as local residents to see our projects as successful.
